Kickers, Riverhounds renew rivalry looking to get back on winning track

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers and Pittsburgh Riverhounds will both be aiming toget back onto a winning track on Saturday evening when the two square off at City Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 1-3-0, 3pts

  • The Kickers fell 1-0 for a third successive game last Saturday as Ottawa Fury FC took victory at City Stadium through a goal by Steevan Dos Santos.

  • Richmond’s scoreless streak has now reached 309 minutes, with Conor Shanosky’s goal in the club’s opening game its lone tally this season.

  • The Kickers came close on numerous occasions to breaking the deadlock against Ottawa as Oliver Minatel and Alhadj Kamara had positive outings. Minatel came closest, hitting the post late in the first half.

  • Richmond will be without central midfielder Chris Durkin, who has been named in the U.S. U17s squad for the CONCACAF U17 Championship that kicks off in Panama on Friday.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-2, 5pts

  • The Riverhounds earned a 1-1 draw with the Charlotte Independence at Eagle Field in their last outing as Kay Banjo found the net for a second successive game.

  • Both of Banjo’s goals this season have come early in contests, with his tally against the Independence arriving in just the second minute.

  • Pittsburgh has conceded eight goals in five games this season, and has yet to record a shutout.

  • Six of the seven goals the Riverhounds have scored have come from inside the penalty area, including all three of Corey Hertzog’s team-leading three tallies.
