TAMPA, Fla. – New York Red Bulls II goalkeeper Evan Louro has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 4 of the 2017 season, with his efforts last Friday night against Orlando City B having helped the Red Bulls claim a 3-1 victory at MSU Soccer Park.
Louro’s standout stop arrived in the 21st minute, shortly after New York had taken the lead. Orlando’s Albert Dikwa broke into the right side of the penalty area, but Louro’s fingertip stop redirected Dikwa’s finish over the crossbar to keep New York ahead.
Louro’s save received 36 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning, narrowly edging out Sacramento Republic FC’s Dominik Jakubek with 33 percent. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s Sean Melvin – who was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for his five-save shutout in Portland – was also in contention at 31 percent.
