Former Sewanee College standout signs first professional contract

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Rhinos announced on Wednesday the signing of Samuel Edoung-Biyo ahead of the club’s home opener on Saturday night against the New York Red Bulls II at Capelli Sport Stadium.

Edoung-Biyo will have the chance to make his professional debut with the Rhinos this season. A native of Cameroon, the 25-year-old competed collegiately for Sewanee College between 2009 and 2012. A midfielder, Edoung-Biyo scored 12 goals and had five assists in 70 matches for the Tigers, and earned All-Southern Athletic Association First Team honors in his senior season.

"Sammy is a pleasant surprise,” said Rhinos Head Coach Bob Lilley. “He came into preseason and worked hard to make the roster. He can play a few different positions and he's a good athlete that has a great physical presence. We think he'll be able to contribute and play his part this year.”
