HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders were just stoppage-time minutes away from recording their first three-game winning streak in nearly two years. That notion was put to bed as Zach Carroll found a stoppage-time equalizer to help Orlando City B earn a 1-1 draw against Harrisburg on Tuesday at FNB Field. Harrisburg was en route to a win with Tiago Calvano’s second-half penalty kick. Paul Wilson drew a foul in the box late in the second half, and in the 80th minute, Calvano calmly picked out the left side of the frame to convert. However, in stoppage time, Orlando drew a foul just outside the penalty box and Carroll redirected the free kick into the back of the net past City Islanders goalkeeper Brandon Miller. Harrisburg moves to 2-1-1 (7 points) while Orlando is now 1-3-2 (5 points).

Scoring:
80’ – HAR – Tiago Calvano (penalty)
90’ – ORL – Zach Carroll (Pierre Da Silva)

Three Things That Mattered:

  • 1. Orlando’s Pierre Da Silva set up the equalizer by Zach Carroll in the closing minutes. Da Silva now holds the outright league lead in assists with four, moving ahead of the Charleston Battery’s Justin Portillo and Real Monarchs SLC’s Charlie Adams who have three apiece.

  • 2. Aside from the late goals, scoring chances were at a premium in this match. Things picked up a bit in the second half. Before Tiago Calvano’s goal, the closest scoring chance of the match came in the 57th minute as Richie Laryea and OCB attacked from the left side of the box. Laryea’s attempt took a deflection, the ball spun around on the goal line and Harrisburg goalkeeper Brandon Miller snagged it to escape the danger. Harrisburg’s best scoring chance occurred only six minutes later in the 63rd minute, when John Grosh’s right-footed attempt forced OCB goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. into making a diving stop to his right,

  • 3. The first half was incredibly choppy for both sides, defined more by the player knocks than scoring threats to the net. In the 40th minute, Orlando left back Victor “PC” Giro injured his lower back, attempted to continue moments later, but was forced to come out of the match before the halftime whistle. OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis had to burn one of his three subs, bringing in Austin Martz just before the half.
