CHICAGO – Five player with USL experience have been named in the U.S. U17 National Team squad named on Monday by Head Coach John Hackworth that will compete at the 2017 CONCACAF U17 Championship in Panama.

The quintet comprised of Chris Gloster (New York Red Bulls II), Jaylin Lindsay (Swope Park Rangers), Chris Durkin (Richmond Kickers), Andrew Carleton (Charleston Battery) and Ayo Akinola (Toronto FC II) are among a 20-player squad that will try to secure a place at the FIFA U17 World Cup later this year in India.

Durkin has made three appearances this season with the Kickers in his second loan stint with the club from D.C. United, going the full 90 minutes in each appearance. The remaining four players all competed for their respective teams in the 2016 USL season, with Akinola scoring a pair of goals for TFC II, and Carleton appearing in the USL Cup Playoffs for the Battery.

“Our team is looking forward to this competition and the opportunity to compete for a chance to participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup this fall in India,” Hackworth said. “The depth of the player pool in this age group is as good as we have ever seen. Thus, our decisions in selecting the final roster were difficult.”

The U.S. enters having come off a successful year that was capped by victory at the 2016 Nike Friendlies in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
