Los Dos, S2 both seek to rebound from defeats last time out

LA Galaxy II news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-0, 3pts

  • The LA Galaxy II fell for a second successive outing last Saturday night as Phoenix Rising FC rallied to win 2-1 for its first win of the new season.

  • Adonis Amaya had given the Galaxy II an early second-half lead, but two goals by Luke Rooney lifted Rising FC to victory in the final half-hour.

  • Los Dos goalkeeper Jon Kempin is currently tied for the league-high as he is averaging 5.3 saves per game alongside Portland’s Kendall McIntosh.

  • The Galaxy II could see the return of U.S. U20 international Hugo Arellano to the lineup after his return from the national team’s camp in London last week.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-0, 3pts

  • Seattle was handed a 3-0 defeat last Saturday by Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 to continue an up and down start to the season.

  • S2 won its second game of the year against Portland, but that victory has been bookended by a pair of defeats.

  • Midfielder Zach Mathers is currently tied for fourth in the USL with nine created chances in the side’s opening three games.

  • Seattle’s passing accuracy rate of 71 percent is tied for third-lowest in the league, ahead of only Ottawa Fury FC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
