New York Red Bulls II news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-1, 4pts

  • The Red Bulls II are coming off back-to-back defeats, with the side having fallen 1-0 against the Harrisburg City Islanders last Wednesday, and 3-2 against Saint Louis FC on Saturday.

  • New York led against Saint Louis in the second half as goals by Brandon Allen and Vincent Bezecourt saw the side overturn a halftime lead, but two goals in the final 16 minutes saw STLFC earn victory.

  • The Red Bulls II have suffered back-to-back defeats only four times previously in their prior two seasons. The last occurrence was the only time it happened in the 2016 regular season when they fell in consecutive games to the Richmond Kickers and Charleston Battery. The team has never suffered three consecutive defeats in its history.

  • Allen’s goal against Saint Louis was his first of the new season. The 2016 USL Rookie of the Year recorded 21 goals across the regular-season and playoffs last season.

Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-1, 4pts

  • Orlando claimed four points from its two contests in Week 3 to get off the mark for the new season, defeating Toronto FC II 3-1 and earning a 1-1 draw with the Charlotte Independence.

  • OCB midfielder Hadji Barry was named to the USL Team of the Week for his performance against Toronto, which saw him record the game-winning goal to cap a fine performance.

  • U.S. Youth International Pierre Da Silva will be available for Orlando on Friday night after serving a one-game suspension against Charlotte. Da Silva is tied for fourth in the league in chances created with nine.

  • Friday night’s game kicks off a three-game road trip across the Northeast for Orlando, which will also visit the Harrisburg City Islanders on April 18 and Bethlehem Steel FC on April 23.

  • New York took two wins and a draw from the first season series between the teams, including a 4-0 victory in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs.
