USL Game of the Week on ESPN3 sees Energy FC host Republic FC

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2017 USL Game of the Week on ESPN takes us to Taft Stadium on Tuesday night as Sacramento Republic FC completes its visit to Oklahoma looking to remain perfect against an OKC Energy FC side that seeks its first win this season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 0-2-1, 1pt

  • Energy FC suffered its second defeat of the season on Saturday night as Rio Grande Valley FC took a 1-0 win in front of 5,889 fans at Taft Stadium in OKC’s home opener.

  • OKC had the chance to take the lead in the 56th minute, but Jose Barril was unable to convert from the penalty spot. The Toros’ Ruben Luna then scored on a penalty kick 11 minutes later to give the visitors victory.

  • Barril was also one of two Energy FC players to be shown a red card, with Richard Dixon sent off after receiving two yellow cards. Both players will be unavailable due to suspension on Tuesday night.

  • Energy FC has never suffered a three-game winless streak to start the season in its three previous starts to a year.

Sacramento Republic FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-0-0, 9pts

  • Sacramento opened its trip to Oklahoma with a 2-1 victory against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday as goals by Wilson Kneeshaw and Tyler Blackwood led the side to its third consecutive win.

  • Republic FC forward Sammy Ochoa had a big performance against his former team, recording one assist and playing a role in the other goal. Ochoa now has three goals and two assists this season.

  • Sacramento has never begun a season with three consecutive victories before, with the side going 2-0-1 last season before falling in its fourth game of the season on the road against Portland.

  • Republic FC is currently on a 14-game undefeated streak in the USL regular season, having gone 11 games undefeated to close the 2016 season.
