Kickers welcome Louisville looking to take second straight home win

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers will aim for a second consecutive home victory at City Stadium to open the season when they host a Louisville City FC side that is coming off an impressive win last time out. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 1-1-0, 3pts

  • The Kickers fell 1-0 to the New York Red Bulls II last Saturday in their most recent outing, having taken a 1-0 victory against the Harrisburg City Islanders in Week 1.

  • Conor Shanosky scored the only goal of the game in front of a club-record crowd of 8,021 fans at City Stadium as the Kickers opened their 25th season with a win in their last home game.

  • Richmond announced on Wednesday it will play host to the Premier League’s Swansea City A.F.C. on July 19, marking a return to City Stadium for the Swans as they visits the United States this summer.

  • The Kickers will honor the memory of former player and club academy coach Kofi Nti on Saturday, with the club asking fans to participate in a minute’s applause in the 20th minute of the contest.

Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Louisville earned its first win of the season last Thursday night when it took a 3-1 victory against Orlando City B at Orlando City Stadium.

  • Cameron Lancaster opened the scoring for the side with its first goal of the season, while George Davis IV recorded a goal and assist to earn selection to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday.

  • Louisville will have Mark-Anthony Kaye available for selection for the first time this season after his return from international duty with the Canada U23 National Team in Qatar.

  • Louisville will return home to Slugger Field next Saturday when they host the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
