Both bring USL experience to Rochester for new season

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Rhinos have announced the signing of center back Ryan Felix and winger Christiano Francois, pending league and USSF approval.

Felix comes to the Rhinos after spending the past two seasons with Orange County SC, where he made 26 appearances and logged more than 1,100 minutes to help the side reach the USL Cup Playoffs in both seasons. He started nine matches in 2015 when Orange County finished first in the USL Western Conference, having previously played collegiately at Loyola Marymount.

"We've been looking for center backs and showed during training camp he's very good on the ball," said Rhinos Assistant Coach Mark Pulisic, "He's a strong presence in the back and real good in the air."

Francois joins the Rhinos after spending the last two seasons in Portugal. The 23-year-old played for second-division sides Felgueiras 1932 and SC Vila Real, scoring four goals in 40 matches.

Francois has competed internationally for the Haiti U23 National Team, and made three appearances during its Olympic Qualifying campaign in 2015.

"Christiano impressed us during training camp," said Pulisic, "He's a fast and dynamic winger. He's quick and has an extremely good work rate. He'll be useful in both attack and defense, and puts his heart into everything he does."

Francois played his collegiate soccer at the University of Maryland, where he recorded five goals and four assists in 24 appearances as a freshman. In 2013, Francois played for Premier Development League side the Baltimore Bohemians before being claimed by Major League Soccer’s D.C. United via a waiver draft on in 2014. He then made 10 appearances on loan with the USL’s Richmond Kickers, where he recorded one goal in 10 appearances.
