CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati concluded its preseason with a 3-2 victory on Friday night against Xavier University at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. Harrison Delbridge, Aodhan Quinn and Djiby Fall all found the net, while Andrew Wiedeman had two assists for the visitors.

Delbridge gave FC Cincinnati the early lead, scoring in the 22nd minute to register his second goal in the past three games. Delbridge had scored a late equalizer against Sacramento Republic FC two weeks ago, and found the net against the Musketeers after Wiedeman collected a throw-in and whipped in a pass that Delbridge directed the ball past goalkeeper Zachary Nelson.

FCC controlled the first half, out-shooting Xavier 10-2 but the Musketeers caught FCC on their heels following the break as Matt Vasquenza evened the score one minute into the second half when he took a pass from Josh Grant and slid the ball past Mitch Hildebrandt.

Quinn quickly struck back for FCC, taking a short corner from Wiedeman and bending in a shot from the right corner of the 18-yard box to put FCC ahead again in the 48th minute. Fall then added a third in the 64th minute as Cincinnati pushed the ball deep into Xavier territory. Matt Bahner sent in a pass from the right to Fall, who collected the ball just outside the six-yard area and neatly tucked it into the back of the net.

Xavier continued to press forward and narrowed the deficit to one in the 69th minute when Cory Brown capped a series of Musketeer headers by putting away a chance created by Cameron Taylor into the upper-left corner of the net.

The Musketeers nearly found an equalizer with seven minutes to go as an initial shot pulled Hildebrandt off his line, and a pair of ensuing shots at the goal were blocked by Delbridge and Paul Nicholson to leave the hosts empty-handed.
