Local standouts Grosh, Libhard among new additions

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced on Thursday the club had signed four more players, including local standouts John Grosh and Griffin Libhard, ahead of the 2017 season. Forward Mike Olla, and defender Jake Bond also join the squad for the new season.

Grosh joins the side after competing collegiately for Drexel University, where he made 77 appearances for the Dragons over four seasons, including 37 starts in his final two seasons at the school. Libhard, meanwhile, competed collegiately for West Virginia University, where he recorded one goal and three assists in 43 appearances. A former City Islanders Academy player, he is looking forward to competing for the side this season.

"I grew up watching the Islanders play, so to play for this organization is unbelievable,” said Libhard. “This is a team of great players and coaches, and I am going to bring my competitive mentality to the training ground every day to help us back into the playoffs."

Bond joins the City Islanders after making one appearance for Saint Louis FC in his first season in the USL. He had previously competed in the Premier Development league for the St. Louis Lions and Kitsap Pumas, while having also twice been named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Conference Team while at Quincy University.

"I am very excited to continue my career in a place that has proven to be a top club in the league,” said Bond. “To win games and championships are the reasons that I play this game, so it is important to me to be a part of an organization that is fully behind these same ideas.”

Olla will aim to boost Harrisburg’s attack after a college career at Montclair State University that saw him score 40 goals and add 14 assists for the program. An All-New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team selection in 2015, Olla begins his professional career with the City Islanders.

"Playing with the Harrisburg City Islanders is a great opportunity for me to take my game to the next level,” said Olla. “I can develop my craft here and will contribute to the club's success this season with my pace, flair, and good vibes.”
