RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC announced on Tuesday it had signed Dembakwi Yomba, pending league and federation approval. Yomba, 20, played two seasons with La Liga club, Atlético Madrid. Yomba is also the youngest player to be signed by 1868 FC.

“Dembakwi is a young and explosive striker who has good pace and instincts,” said 1868 FC Head Coach Ian Russell. “He’s a player we are looking to develop here in Reno.”

Yomba joined the Atlético youth program in 2014. In the same year, he made his international debut for Atlético in the UEFA Youth League against Olympiacos. Yomba and his former Spanish club would later advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Prior to his stint with Atlético, Yomba played for the United States U17, U18, and U20 national teams.  Yomba was scouted while traveling with the U18 Men's National team to the Copa del Atlantico in Spain.

Yomba most recently played for Orlando City B, but after his departure from the club he was invited by 1868 FC as a trialist for the club’s inaugural season. The forward made multiple appearances with the club during its preseason, including a friendly against Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes.
