SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento’s Tower Bridge Battalion raised more than $12,000 on Monday night as the Republic FC supporters group’s third annual event in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation was an outstanding success. The total raised for the children’s cancer research foundation was the highest amount the group had raised since its first event in 2015.

Led by Battalion Capo Thomas Leech, who shaved his head two years ago for St. Baldrick's and hasn't had a haircut since, the event at de Vere’s in downtown Sacramento again drew a big crowd and big donations from the likes of Republic FC leaders Warren Smith and Kevin Nagle.

Republic FC players were once again part of the festivities, with goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek and defender James Kiffe among those to get their heads shaved for the charity. Jakubek has been a participant in the event in previous years, and was happy to be part of it again.

“First and foremost, because we have to find a cure for this cancer, one of the toughest things is kids who have cancer,” said Jakubek. “If I can just shave it off, donate some money, find a cure, it’s a great cause. I’m excited to do it. The weather’s nice, so why not go bald for St. Baldrick’s?”
