HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced a big name to anchor their defense with the signing of 2015 USL Goalkeeper of the Year Brandon Miller. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Miller, who won the 2015 USL Cup Final, comes to Harrisburg after spending the 2016 season with the Orange County.

“I am looking forward to joining the Harrisburg City Islanders,” Miller said. “The team has had success in the past. I’ve had personal success, and this is a good move for me moving forward. There’s a strong core group of guys returning, and I know that Coach [Bill] Becher and the staff are going to put together a competitive group to get us back into the playoffs and competing for the championship.”

In 2015, while playing for the Rochester Rhinos, Miller conceded only 11 goals throughout the season. He was able to keep a clean sheet in 13 of his 20 starts and led his team to an overall 17-1-10 record on the season. His 13 shutouts and 0.54 goals-against average that year serve as USL single-season records.

During the 2015 USL Cup Playoffs, Miller allowed only one goal in three games. Rochester then went on to win the 2015 USL Cup Final against the LA Galaxy II.

Head Coach Bill Becher also expects great things from the notable goalkeeper this season.

“Brandon is a big signing for us this year,” Becher said. “He brings not only experience, but also a winning mentality. He won the championship with Rochester in 2015, was named USL Goalkeeper of the Year and I think he’s going to do very well with us this year.”
