VILLANOVA, Pa. – Bethlehem Steel FC earned its second consecutive victory of the preseason as three first-half goals led the side to a 3-2 victory against Villanova University on Wednesday afternoon at the Higgins Soccer Complex.

Much like in its preseason debut, Steel FC’s offensive prowess was on full display from the opening kickoff. Bethlehem’s Santi Moar recorded his third goal of the preseason, while Yosef Samuel notched his second, and Josue Monge rounded out the scoring for the visiting club.

Bethlehem opened the scoring in just the sixth minute on Monge’s goal. In a quick build-up, the Academy midfielder found space outside the penalty area and fired home a shot from distance.

Ten minutes later, Steel FC doubled its lead. After a steal in the midfield, Bethlehem attacked as Josh Heard delivered a pass on the wing to Moar. The Spaniard dribbled past his defender and fired a shot that was cleared off the goal line. Samuel was able to collect the cleared ball, however, and fired home a shot to make it 2-0.

With time winding down in the first half, Steel FC delivered its final goal of the half in a similar fashion to its second as quick takeaway led to another scoring chance. This time it was Heard notching his fourth assist of the preseason as he found Moar in front of goal, and the former PDL standout fired a hard shot off the post that rattled into the back of the net.

The second half saw the Wildcats battle back with a pair of goals to make it 3-2, however Steel FC regained control of the match over the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.

Steel FC returns to preseason action on Saturday, March 4, when the club hosts Temple University. Kickoff from the Power Training Complex is scheduled for noon and is free to the public.
