Former Villanova fullback made two appearances for club last season

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced on Friday it had re-signed defender Chris Hill, pending league and federation approval.  The defender returns to Central Pennsylvania after making his USL debut with Harrisburg last season.

Prior to joining then City Islanders, Hill played two seasons at Villanova University, finishing his collegiate soccer career with three goals and five assists in more than 50 appearances.

Hill's first season with the City Islanders was a year of transition; although he signed with the professional club, he was still enrolled at Villanova. As a result, the young defender only played two games in 2016.

In the offseason, Hill spent some time overseas training in Italy and Germany and looks forward to playing a larger role in 2017 for the Harrisburg City Islanders.

"I'm really pumped to be back with the club this year and looking forward to making a bigger impact than I was able to last season,” Hill said. “I found some good form at the end of the season and I am determined to reestablish that form this year, help the team get to the playoffs, and raise the USL trophy again.

“This will be a new year, a new team, and I'm looking forward to it.”

City Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher said he was pleased to have Hill back with the side for a second season.

"Chris Hill was a young player who practiced and trained really hard every day,” said Becher. “Hopefully he can continue to grow and build on his first season with us."
