WAYNE, Pa. – Led by strong performances by new signee Santi Moar and Philadelphia Union Academy forward Justin McMaster, pictured, Bethlehem Steel FC opened its 2017 preseason schedule with a resounding 7-0 win against Junior Lone Star FC at YSC Sports.

Moar and McMaster each scored a pair of goals, while Josh Heard recorded three assists as Steel FC scored a resounding victory in their first game of the preseason.

Steel FC opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Moar found space outside the 18-yard box and delivered a hard, low shot from distance to open the scoring. The goal gave confidence to the 23-year-old, and eight minutes later he added another. Moar fought for space and headed home a cross from Heard that doubled the Steel FC lead.

With halftime looming, Bethlehem added another goal as Heard delivered a low cross that was tapped past the Stars keeper by Yosef Samuel.

The second half saw more of the same, as Seku Conneh finished off a perfectly-placed ball from Heard with a curling shot. McMaster then showcased his speed with a pair of goals minutes apart, the first coming after Amoy Brown beat a Stars’ defender and goalkeeper to set up McMaster’s finish. The Union Academy forward followed up with another goal minutes later, scoring in the bottom left corner.

Philadelphia Union 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick Chris Nanco rounded out the scoring on a counter-attack late in the match, finishing into the top corner with a hard strike.
