Was named 2016 MVC Player of the Year for SIU-Edwardsville

FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced on Monday the signing of four new players, led by 2017 MLS SuperDraft selection Austin Ledbetter. Milan Petosevic, Denis Ahmetovic, and Nick Radosavljevic – the son of STLFC Head Coach Preki – also joined the squad, with all four signings pending league and federation approval.

A native of St. Louis, Ledbetter was selected in the Third Round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft after being named the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. An NSCAA All-West Region selection in his senior season, Ledbetter made 79 appearances for the Cougars and recorded six goals and two assists.

Prior to his collegiate career, Ledbetter came through the ranks at St. Louis Scott Gallagher and played for the SLSG Development Academy team that made the USSDA National Final in 2012. Ledbetter also competed for the Des Moines Menace in the PDL this past summer.

“Austin is someone who we are familiar with,” said STLFC General Manager, Jeremy Alumbaugh. “He is a product of the SLSG Development Academy and carried that into a quality four years at SIUE where he led them to the NCAA Tournament. He is first and foremost a quality person and his leadership has been a trait since a very young age.

“He has tested himself during the summer months by playing in the PDL and has grown as a player and person because of those experiences. Sometimes things have a way of working out for all involved and to have Austin in a Saint Louis FC uniform is one of those things. We are excited to have him with STLFC.”

Serbian forward Petosevic most recently played for Favoritner AC in Austria, where he scored seven goals in 15 appearances last season, while fellow Serbian Ahmetovic arrives from Ubon UMT United in the Thailand First Division. Radosavljevic most recently played for Chico State in California, having previously competed for Catawba College in North Carolina and American River College.
