RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC announced on Thursday the signing of midfielder Antoine Hoppenot, pending league and federation approval. Hoppenot arrives in Reno after competing in the USL last season for FC Cincinnati.

“Antoine will be a key component in our attack,” said 1868 FC Head Coach Ian Russell. “He’s a very quick, dynamic player who is very dangerous in the attacking third.”

Hoppenot began his professional career with the Philadelphia Union after being selected in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft, and recorded seven goals in 69 appearances for the club over four seasons. During this time he also appeared on loan for the Harrisburg City Islanders, and in 2014 played a key role as the club reached the USL Cup Final.

Hoppenot made 13 appearances a season ago for Cincinnati as the club reached the USL Cup Playoffs in its inaugural season. Prior to his professional career, he competed for the PDL’s Central Jersey Spartans – making 26 appearances in two seasons – and was an All-Ivy League First Team selection for Princeton University in 2011.
