OTTAWA – Toronto FC II’s Shaan Hundal and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s Kadin Chung – both selections in the 2016 USL 20 Under 20 – lead a group of eight USL players selected to a nine-day training camp with the Canada U20 National Team in Mexico that continues the team’s build-up to the 2017 CONCACAF U20 Championship in February.

Hundal scored the decisive goal as Canada took a 1-0 victory in the opening game of a two-game exhibition series with Panama just over a week ago. He is one of five players from TFC II named to the camp, with midfielders Aidan Daniels, Dante Campbell, Richie Ennin, Liam Fraser and Luca Uccello – who took the captain’s armband in the victory – also named in the squad.

Chung, who helped lead WFC2 to the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs, is joined in the defensive group by the Montreal Impact’s Thomas Meilleur-Giguere, who made 21 appearances for FC Montreal in the 2016 USL season. Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy goalkeeper Thomas Hasal is also included in the squad.

The Canada U20s are scheduled to play two exhibitions while in camp against the youth sides from Liga MX clubs from Cruz Azul and Club America. The side will kick off the 2017 CONCACAF U20 Championship – which also serves as qualifying for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup – in Costa Rica on February 17 against Honduras, with games against Mexico (Feb. 20) and Antigua & Barbuda (Feb. 23) rounding out the group.
