Van Ewijk Leads Trio of Orange County Signings

Chaplow, Stevanović return as club enters new era in 2017 season

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC unveiled its first three signings on Friday evening with Dutch winger Jerry van Ewijk joining the club, and Richard Chaplow and  Dusañ Stevanović remaining with the club as it enters its new era in the 2017 USL season. The signings are pending league and federation approval.

The 24-year-old Van Ewijk spent the last three seasons playing for De Graafschap and Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie. An exciting and explosive midfielder, Van Ewijk scored 24 goals and added nine assists during his time in the Dutch Leagues.

English midfielder Chaplow returns to the squad after recording two goals and two assists in eight appearances for the club, helping the side reach the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs. A former member of the Premier League’s Southampton FC, Chaplow helped the side upset top seed Sacamento Republic FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the postseason

Also returning to the club is Serbian-American attacking midfielder Stevanović, who had one goal in 13 appearances a season ago. A local standout who began his professional career with FK Sinđelić Beograd in his native Serbia, the 24-year-old Stevanović scored his first goal for Orange County on May 21 against Real Monarchs SLC.
