HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced on Tuesday the club had exercised its contract option on midfielder Danny DiPrima for the 2017 USL season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

DiPrima will enter his fourth season with the City Islanders in 2017 after making 16 appearances for the side last season. DiPrima has made 49 appearances over the past three seasons since joining the City Islanders after a solid college career at North Carolina State University.

"He had an injury his second year (2015) that cut his season short,” said City Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher. “He was still fighting back from that in 2016. He had some good moments and did some good things...but being a year removed from the injury, he'll be a lot better in 2017."

DiPrima helped the City Islanders reach the USL Cup Final in 2014, scoring what proved to be the winning goal against the Richmond Kickers in the playoff semifinals. A native of Dillsburg, Pa., the 25-year-old is excited to see how he'll perform in 2017 and is fully committed to pushing the club to its highest potential.

"I couldn't be more excited to be coming back to the Islanders this season,” said DiPrima. “To be able to represent this club is very special to me. Playing in front of my family, friends, and in my hometown is an extra drive to motivate me to help this club achieve its goals. I'm looking forward to getting our season started."
