COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Tuesday the signing of former FC Montreal midfielder Masta Kacher. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

The 21-year-old Kacher made 36 appearances for FC Montreal over the past two seasons, recording two goals and one assist in 2016. A native of Algeria whose family moved to Montreal at a young age, Kacher was a member of the Montreal Impact’s Academy prior to turning professional with FC Montreal. With the Impact’s U18 squad, he was part of the club's first season in the USSF Development Academy, where he helped his team reach the national semifinals in Seattle.

"Masta is a player we identified after playing with FC Montreal the last couple of seasons," said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "He is a very technical and exciting attacking player that will create a lot for us in the midfield."

Kacher is the third new arrival for the Switchbacks this offseason, joining Guam international Shane Malcolm and New Zealand international Chris James.

"It is a pride for me to join this Colorado Springs team," said Kacher. "I am very excited to start and give everything for the team and the fans."
