CINCINNATI, Ohio – FC Cincinnati announced on Monday it had signed former USL All-League defender Matt Bahner and forward Daryl Fordyce for the upcoming season, pending league and federation approval.

A former standout at the University of Cincinnati, Bahner was an All-League selection in 2014 as he helped the Harrisburg City Islanders reach the USL Cup Final. Bahner made 52 appearances for the City Islanders over two seasons, and over the past two years made 46 appearances for Jacksonville Armada FC.

“We are excited to welcome Matt home to Cincinnati,” said FCC Head Coach John Harkes of the local standout. “It is something special to be able to play in front of your hometown fans and we know Matt is looking forward to embracing this experience. We feel he can come in and compete to start for our team immediately. He is an experienced, versatile defender who can be utilized in any position across our back four.”

Fordyce arrives from FC Edmonton, where he recorded a club record 28 goals over the past four seasons. Fordyce had seven goals and three assists for the Eddies in the 2016 season, helping the club reach the postseason for the first time in its history.

“Daryl has had a lot of success in recent years and we feel very confident that he will come into our league and be a successful attacking option for our team,” said Harkes. “Daryl is the consummate professional and he will help guide some of our younger players as we continue to grow our club.”
