CLUB HISTORY

Founded in 1901, River Plate has built a history of success both at the domestic and international level with Los Millionarios having claimed the Argentinian Primera Division title a record 36 times, and the Copa Libertadores on three occasions, most recently in 2015.

The home of legendary names such as Alfredo Di Stefano and Jose Manuel Moreno, and more modern standouts Ariel Ortega, Enzo Francescoli and Hernan Crespo, River has a deep and rich history which has been burnished by its home venue of El Monumental, the club’s stadium since 1938.
