COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Tuesday the return of midfielder Davy Armstrong for his third season with the club. The signing is pending league and USSF approval.

Armstrong spent much of 2016 injured, but provided a spark off the bench in the matches he played in addition to starting a handful of matches. Armstrong played 20 matches, totaling 680 minutes of action, during 2016 campaign, including an appearance in the Switchbacks' USL Cup Playoffs contest against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.

"Despite being injured for much of last year, I am very excited that God has blessed me to play another year," said Armstrong.

A former Homegrown signing by the Colorado Rapids, Armstrong joined the Switchbacks for their inaugural season in 2015. He has made 42 regular-season appearances for the club as Colorado Springs has reached the USL Cup Playoffs in each of its first two seasons.

Before joining the Rapids, Armstrong was named the 2008 Denver Post All-Colorado player of the year and was a three-time All Colorado team selection from 2007-09.

"We are glad to have Davy back for a third season since he has been a big part of our success," said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh.
