CHICAGO – 2016 USL Cup winner Tyler Adams of the New York Red Bulls II and USL 20 Under 20 No. 1 Victor Mansaray of Seattle Sounders FC 2 are among nine players with USL experience to be named in the U.S. U20 National Team Squad that will convene for its final training camp of 2016 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The eight-day camp will open on December 13 as the side continues preparations for the 2017 CONCACAF U20 Championship in Costa Rica, which also serves as qualifying for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup. The side will play Costa Rica twice during its stay on December 17 and 19 at the Costa Rica National Training Center.

“This will be a great opportunity for our players to get acclimated to Costa Rica and get a sense of what they can expect in February.” U.S. U20 National Team Head Coach Tab Ramos said. “The chance to play Costa Rica twice will be a good test for our guys to see where they stand against the host nation, who is playing at a very high level.”

The 17-year-old Adams, who was named No. 5 in the USL 20 Under 20 this summer, was a key player as the Red Bulls II claimed the USL Cup for the first time. A former member of the U.S. U17 national team, Adams was the first signing in Red Bulls II history ahead of their inaugural season in 2015, and has made 29 regular-season appearances for the side in the past two years.

Mansaray, who topped the list of the leading young players in the USL in 2016, recorded five goals and two assists in 19 appearances for S2 this season. A consistent presence throughout the year with the U20s, Mansaray was part of the side that claimed the NTC Invitational earlier this year.

Also part of that squad was Jeremy Ebobisse, who played on loan with the Charleston Battery on loan from MLS, while the Bethlehem Steel FC duo of Derrick Jones and Auston Trusty were also named in this month’s squad. Former Real Monarchs SLC players Justen Glad, Sebastian Saucedo and Danny Acosta are included in the squad.

Tommy Redding, who began his career in the USL with Orlando City SC in 2014, and Marcello Borges, who competed for the Red Bulls II as an academy signing prior to enrolling at the University of Michigan, are also included in the defensive corps.

Also selected are Miles Robinson, who was named the PDL’s top defensive prospect in November after competing for FC Boston, and goalkeeper J.T. Marcinkowski, who has competed over the past two seasons for the Burlingame Dragons in the PDL, and Aaron Herrera, who played for FC Tucson this past season.
