Kickers Sign Imura to Contract Extension

All-League midfielder inks multi-year deal to remain in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers announced on Friday it had agreet to a multi-year contract extension with 2016 USL All-League selection Yudai Imura that will commence with the Kickers’ 25th Anniversary season in 2017, pending league and federation approval.

“Yudai has been an outstanding performer for the team and we are delighted he has committed his long-term future to the club,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “I know than fans are going to be thrilled with the news that one of their favorite players will be back in RVA.”

Named to the USL All-League Second Team in his second season with the club in 2016, Imura led the Kickers with 11 goals and two assists, and was a crucial contributor to a midseason six-game winning streak in which he tallied six goals and one assist. Imura signed with the Kickers prior to the 2015 season, and has since made 49 appearances over two years.

Prior to signing with Richmond, the native of Tokyo, Japan spent one season with Yokogawa Musashino FC of the Japan Football League where he recorded four goals in nine appearances and made 51 appearances with Juntendo University, notching 11 goals and ranking 10th in assists in the Japan College Kanto Conference.
