OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC announced on Thursday it had signed Cape Verde forward Steevan Dos Santos, pending league and federation approval. The former Rochester Rhinos standout, who helped the side win the 2015 USL Cup, is reunited with fellow former Rhino Onua Obasi in Canada’s capital.

“Our main priority this recruitment season was to find a dominant forward to start taking advantage of the many chances we have been creating and in Steevan, we got our man,” said Fury FC Head Coach Paul Dalglish. “We are excited to see how many goals he can score for Fury FC.”

Dos Santos recorded 16 goals in the USL regular season over the past two years, and added four goals in the postseason in his 48 total appearances for the club. Dos Santos also led the Rhinos with five assists this past season as he helped the Rhinos claim a top-four position in the USL’s Eastern Conference.

The 27-year-old forward also has international experience, as he was called up once to play for the Cape Verdean National team against Catalonia in December of 2013.

“I am happy to join Ottawa Fury FC,” said Dos Santos. “From what I've heard from other players, Ottawa has a great organization, soccer culture and great supportive fans. I look forward to contribute to the team and in the process score many goals for the club in the upcoming season. Also, I look forward to see all of the Fury fans at TD Place.”
