Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced this week stadium upgrades at ONEOK Field that will raise the fan experience for the new USL season, including the creation of a new scoreboard bar that will allow fans to take in all the action on the field while enjoying local, national and international beers.

“There are so many ways and places to enjoy games at ONEOK Field, and this new project provides another exciting amenity for fans,” said Roughnecks Co-Chairman Dale Hubbard.  “We expect it to become a fun gathering place that will offer a memorable and unique experience for fans.”

The scoreboard bar will feature 12 big screen TVs, giving fans the chance to follow more than one game. The bar itself will be 62 feet long, while taking up a space of more than 1,200 square feet. The concept and layout of the area is similar to that at Avaya Stadium, home of Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes, which is recognized as the longest outdoor bar in North America.

As the club enters its third season in the USL next season, creating a great environment for local fans as they support the club was one of the top priorities for Tulsa’s management this offseason.

“The name of the game is presenting a great product for the fans,” said Roughnecks President and General Manager Mike Melega recently. “We run things to make the casual fan come to the sport and grow their enjoyment of the game.”

The new amenities at ONEOK Field continue a busy offseason of activity for the Roughnecks, who recently announced the club had partnered with the Titan Sports & Performance Center, which will become the club’s official training facility throughout the year.

And while there are upgrades coming to ONEOK Field for the 2017 USL season, Melaga and the Roughnecks also have an eye on potentially creating a permanent home for the club in its own soccer-specific stadium.

“I think, like make of the teams in the USL, we have aspirations to build a soccer-specific venue in our city, in Tulsa,” said Melega.
