LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Friday at least 11 players from the club’s 2016 roster would return for the new USL season, and that the club also remained in talks with key players who could yet return in 2017.

Among those set to return are defender Kyle Smith, midfielder Guy Abend and forward Cameron Lancaster, all of whom played important roles in helping the side reach the Eastern Conference Final of the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs for a second successive season.

City remains in close negotiations to bring back goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh – whose performances this season saw him earn a first call-up to the Trinidad & Tobago National Team – and George Davis IV, a veteran midfielder out of the University of Kentucky. Additionally, Coach James O'Connor will remain in contact with a trio of free agents from the midfield – Aodhan Quinn, Kadeem Dacres and Andrew Lubahn – who could potentially re-sign with Louisville.

Other players set to return include goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski, defenders Sean Reynolds, Tarek Morad and Paco Craig, midfielders Niall McCabe, Mark-Anthony Kaye and Paolo DelPiccolo, and forward Ilija Ilic.

Louisville will part ways with its leading scorer from the past season, Chandler Hoffman, while other departures include midfielder Magnus Rasmussen, defender Ben Newnam, forward Kenny Doublette and defender Enrique Montano, who on Thursday was introduced as a new addition for Sacramento Republic FC.

"We feel with the guys that are coming back that we've got a really strong group," O'Connor said. "I think if they can do the things that we want in the offseason, they'll be better for it and help us going forward."
