Saint Louis FC Makes Roster Moves for 2017 Season

Exercises options on Cochran, Rudolph, David, who join returning Herrera, Bond

FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced today it has exercised contract options on defender A.J. Cochran and midfielders Seth Rudolph and Tyler David for the 2017 season, pending USL and USSF approval.

The trio of players join midfielder Chad Bond and forward Irvin Herrera, both of whom were previously under contract for next season.

A St. Louis native, Cochran led STLFC with 2,430 minutes of action in his first season with the club, and recorded a pair of assists in his 27 appearances. A selection in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Houston Dynamo, for whom he made 26 appearances, Cochran was the 2013 Big Ten Defender of the Year for the University of Wisconsin, while also playing in the PDL for K-W United FC and the Chicago Fire U23. 

Rudolph recorded a pair of goals in his first season for Saint Louis, as he made 10 appearances for the team. Rudolph had previously played professionally for Swedish team Sandvikens IF, where he scored eight goals in 33 appearances. Rudolph played collegiately at George Washington University, and scored 29 goals in 70 appearances for the Colonials.

David will also return after recording 22 appearances in his rookie season. The Saint Louis University product had a goal and assist in 837 minutes of action for the side.

Saint Louis FC also announced it will not exercise options on the following players: Mark Pais, Ryan Thompson, Parker Maher, Sam Fink, Richard Dixon, Jake Bond, Jermie Lynch, Mitch Lurie, James Musa.

The club also announced that 11 players from the 2016 season were currently out of contract: Eduardo Cortes, Jamiel Hardware, Kentaro Takada, Charles Renken, Mike Ambersley, Jacob Bushue, Vince Cicciarelli, Chad Vandegriffe, Jordan Roberts, Sean Clancy, Brandon Barklage.

“On behalf of Saint Louis FC, our fans and supporters, I would like to thank the players that have helped us build the club during the 2015 and 2016 seasons,” said Saint Louis General Manager Jeremy Alumbaugh. “They all have contributed to some memorable moments both on and off the field.  We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

“Since the announcement of Preki, he and I have been active in identifying players for the 2017 season.  This includes a handful of out of contract players from the 2016 season and we expect to make announcements in the coming weeks.”
