OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC announced on Monday the club had re-signed defender Coady Andrews for the 2017 season, as the veteran center back returns for a third season with the club.

Andrews played all of the 2016 and part of the 2015 season with Energy FC. In total, he has appeared in 43 games, starting 41 of them, for OKC. In the 2016 USL regular season, he was part of a defensive unit that allowed only 30 goals, the third-fewest in the USL’s Western Conference.

“We are happy to have Coady Andrews back with our club as he has been a big part of our success the last two seasons,” said Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen. “We’ve also noticed over that time that he’s been willing to take on a leadership role with the club. In addition to his play on the field, he has become a member of the soccer community in Oklahoma City by coaching and training young soccer players.”

Andrews had previously competed in the USL with the Harrisburg City Islanders, which whom he reached their 2014 USL Cup Final in his second season with the club. The 27-year-old had previously played in the PDL for the Des Moines Menace.

“I believe that with the direction Jimmy is leading the team, we’re in a position to win a championship,” said Andrews. “The roots and the relationships I’ve built within the community drives me to want to succeed here.”

Andrews joins forward Danni König in being officially signed by Energy FC for the 2017 USL season.
