New York Red Bulls II standout Derrick Etienne Jr. has been named in Haiti’s squad for the country’s rescheduled Caribbean Cup Qualifying contests against French Guinea and St. Kitts & Nevis, as the side looks to also secure its place at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup next week.

Both contests were originally scheduled for October, but were postponed due to the impact of Hurricane Matthew. French Guinea took a 1-0 victory against St. Kitts & Nevis in the other game in the group.

Etienne is coming off a standout season for the Red Bulls II that saw him scored five goals and add six assists for the side in the regular season, and two goals and one assist in the postseason as the side claimed its first USL Cup. The No. 3 selection on this summer’s USL 20 Under 20, Etienne could make his full international debut in the upcoming two games.

Sebastien Thuriere, who spent this past season with San Antonio FC and is currently competing for Sheikh Russel KC in Bangladesh, was also named in the squad, as was former USL All-League selection Mechack Jerome.

Haiti will face French Guinea on November 9 at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port Au Prince, Haiti, and then will close out the stage by visiting St. Kitts & Nevis at the Warner Park Sporting Complex in Basseterre on November 13. The first-place side in the group will advance to the 2017 Caribbean Cup and the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
