OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi will be available for Saturday’s Western Conference Semifinal in the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs after declining a call-up to the Puerto Rico National Team for this week’s final stage of Caribbean Cup Qualifying.

Laurendi was named in Puerto Rico’s squad last Friday for its upcoming games against Antigua & Barbuda and Curacao, but elected to remain with Energy FC for its clash with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Thunderbird Stadium this Saturday. OKC took a 3-2 victory against Rio Grande Valley FC to advance through the Conference Quarterfinals.

“It’s definitely an honor [to be selected],” Laurendi said following Energy FC’s practice on Tuesday, “but these boys are who I’ve been going to work with for the past eight, nine months, and I want to finish what we started.”

Two USL players are set to suit up for Puerto Rico in the Caribbean Cup Qualifiers, with Sacramento Republic FC’s Jeremy Hall and San Antonio FC’s Manolo Sanchez also named to the squad. The team that finishes top of the three-team group will advance to the 2017 Caribbean Cup, and also earn automatic qualification to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
