RENO, Nev. – 2017 USL expansion club Reno 1868 FC announced on Thursday it had passed the halfway point to its Founding Membership goal, with more than 1,000 season tickets already sold for the 2017 season.
1868 FC hosted both an international exhibition and a USL regular season contest over the past summer that brought Liverpool FC U21, Sacramento Republic FC and Real Monarchs SLC to Greater Nevada Field, and brought nearly 11,500 fans into the stands. The club continued to build buzz locally with the revealing of the official crest and home jersey kit, and the announcement of the club’s official partnership with Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes.
“Without our current fan support, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” said 1868 FC general manager Andy Smith. “Prospective Founding Members can forever etch themselves within the history of this franchise, but with only a limited number available, the time is now.”
Reno is offering 1,868 memberships for founding members, which include a founding member’s scarf, priority seating for life, and a photo on the pitch prior to the 2017 season among the perks on offer. The club will host up to 18 matches in 2017 at Greater Nevada Field, including 16 regular-season USL matches in its inaugural campaign.
