Orlando needs victory to claim final playoff berth in Eastern Conference

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Orlando City B will need to take victory as it visits Bethlehem Steel FC on Sunday afternoon at Goodman Stadium to claim the eighth and final Eastern Conference berth in the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET.

Bethlehem Steel FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-13-10, 28pts
  • The Steel were eliminated from playoff contention last Sunday after a 1-1 draw against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
  • Bethlehem got a second-half equalizer by James Chambers to level a first-half goal by the Riverhounds, but were unable to find a late winner.
  • The Steel’s winless streak stretched to 11 games with the draw against Pittsburgh, with the side having gone 0-7-4 over that span.
  • Bethlehem’s last victory came on July 14 against Wilmington Hammerheads FC at Goodman Stadium.

Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 8-13-8, 32pts
  • Orlando fell 1-0 to FC Cincinnati in its last outing, which extended the side’s winless streak to eight games.
  • OCB has gone only 0-7-1 over that span, and on Saturday was overtaken for eighth place in the Eastern Conference by Wilmington Hammerheads FC.
  • The Hammerheads took a 2-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers to move two points ahead of Orlando, meaning OCB must take victory to reach the postseason.
  • Either Orlando or Wilmington will visit the New York Red Bulls II on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. ET to open the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs.
