Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Current record: 17-4-8, 59pts
  • Louisville clinched the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference last Saturday with a 5-1 victory against Saint Louis FC at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
  • Magnus Rasmussen scored a pair of goals in the victory, while Kadeem Dacres, Cameron Lancaster and Ilija Ilic also found the net.
  • Rasmussen’s brace gave him three goals in the past two games, and earned him a place in the USL Team of the Week.
  • With 14 goals, Louisville’s Chandler Hoffman sits a goal behind FC Cincinnati’s Sean Okoli and the LA Galaxy II’s Jack McBean in the race for the USL Golden Boot.

Charlotte Independence news and notes

  • Current record: 14-8-7, 49pts
  • The Independence missed out on the chance to claim a home playoff game last Saturday as they fell 1-0 to the Rochesterr Rhinos at Ramblewood Stadium.
  • Charlotte now sits a point ahead of the Charleston Battery and the Rhinos for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
  • A victory would ensure the Independence open the playoffs at home, but either a draw or a loss would open the door for the Battery and Rhinos to overtake them with a win.
  • Charlotte is the third-highest scoring side in the Eastern Conference, and has seen five players score at least six goals this season for the club.

2016 Team leaders
