LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Wednesday it will start its pursuit of the 2016 USL Cup on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Louisville Slugger Field, as it hosts an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal at 7 p.m. ET.

The contest will be Louisville’s second home playoff game in its history, after the side took a 2-0 win against the Charleston Battery last year in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in front of more than 8,500 fans at Slugger Field.

The matchup for this season’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinal contest is yet to be determined, but City can clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference with a win against Saint Louis FC on Saturday night, which would see the side welcome the conference’s No.7 seed to Louisville to start the postseason.

"Being able to host at least one playoff match again this season is a testament to the quality of our team and desire to bring USL championships to Louisville," said Louisville President Amanda Duffy. "Due to stadium availability as well as consideration of previously scheduled events in the Louisville community, our first-round playoff match will be played on Sunday evening.

"We are thrilled to have another opportunity to play in front of our fans, who continue to show the best support in USL.”

Tickets to the Oct. 2 game are on sale now for City season ticket holders and package buyers only through Sunday. Seats remaining after that will then open to the general public, with admission starting at $15.

For tickets, visit LouisvilleCityFC.com, call (502) 384-8799 (option 3) or email tickets@louisvillecityfc.com. College students with a valid ID are also eligible for a $5 ticket at the door or the club's offices, 127 S. 6th Street, starting Monday.
