CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati announced on Thursday the acquisition of Casey Townsend from Wilmington Hammerheads FC. Per terms of the transfer agreement, Townsend will not suit up against Wilmington in this Sunday’s match.

The 27-year-old joins FCC after playing with the Hammerheads in 2016, where he recorded a pair of goals and one assist.

“I am thankful to my Wilmington coaches, teammates, and staff for everything they have done for me during my time here,” said Townsend. “I wish them nothing but the best as the season comes to an end, and greatly look forward to a promising future with FC Cincinnati.”

“As we look towards the final four games of the regular season and the playoffs, we wanted to ensure we had a full roster available to us and Casey will give the club some depth.” said President and General Manager, Jeff Berding. “He has been with some good clubs and will be a great option to have in the attacking third.”

Townsend transferred to Wilmington in May this year from OKC Energy FC, where he had played since the start of the 2015 USL season. Townsend brought previously USL experience to Energy FC after having competed on loan for the Richmond Kickers in 2013 from D.C. United.
