Cincinnati, Saint Louis feature on Labor Day edition of the USL Game of the Week

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati and Saint Louis FC will meet in a special Labor Day edition of the USL Game of the Week on ESPN3 at Nippert Stadium on Monday with FCC looking to rebound from its first two-game losing streak of the season, and Saint Louis facing a must-win to boost its playoff hopes. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

  • Current record: 12-6-7, 43pts
  • Cincinnati was edged out 3-2 by the Charlotte Independence on Wednesday night at Ramblewood Stadium in its last outing.
  • Despite the loss, Cincinnati claimed the Queen Cities Cup as it took the season series against Charlotte on away goals after the aggregate score ended 4-4 over two games.
  • The defeat marked the first time in FCC’s inaugural season it had suffered back-to-back defeats, with the side having taken victory on the four previous occasions it had fallen.
  • Sean Okoli scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season against Charlotte, and is now tied for third in the USL in the Race for the Golden Boot.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-10-9, 30pts
  • Saint Louis played to a 1-1 draw against OKC Energy FC on Wednesday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
  • STLFC took an early lead through Schillo Tschuma, but was held to a draw as Daniel Gonzalez scored for the visitors before the end of the first half.
  • Saint Louis is now four points out of the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference with four games remaining in the regular season.
  • STLFC announced on Thursday that midfielder Parker Maher would be unavailable for the remainder of the season after suffering a groin injury. Maher is currently fifth on the team in minutes played this season.
