OCB’s Da Silva, Galaxy II’s Zubak named for 2016 Stevan-Vilotic Cele tournament

CHICAGO – A quartet of players from the USL have been called into the U.S. U19 National Team squad that will compete at the 2016 Stevan-Vilotic Cele tournament that kicks off on Sept. 1 in Subotica, Serbia.

Pierre Da Silva (Orlando City B), Ethan Zubak (LA Galaxy II), Felipe Hernandez (Swope Park Rangers) and Jake Morris (Seattle Sounders FC 2) were all named in the squad by U.S. U19 Coach Brad Friedel. The U.S. will face Serbia on Sept. 1 before a contest with France on Sept. 2. The tournament will conclude with a placement match on Sept. 5 against one of Hungary, Israel and Ukraine, who make up the tournament’s other group.

Da Silva leads Orlando City B with five assists this season, and was named as the No. 14 player in the recent USL 20 Under 20 series. Da Silva has made 19 appearances for OCB this season, recording almost 1,300 minutes of action, and has helped the side reach its current eighth-place position in the USL Eastern Conference.

Zubak has recorded one goal and one assist for Los Dos in 18 appearances for the side this season. The 18-year-old turned professional when he signed with the Galaxy II this past May, after scoring his first goal for the Galaxy II on April 9 in a 3-3 draw with Real Monarchs SLC.

Morris made his USL debut for S2 on August 20 when he came on as a substitute in the side’s 1-0 defeat against San Antonio FC. Hernandez, meanwhile, recently made the move to the Rangers’ squad from the Sporting Kansas City Academy.
