U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday the U.S. Men’s National Team would take on New Zealand at RFK Stadium on October 11 in an international exhibition at the historic venue. Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. ET, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN and UniMas.

The All Whites have made a significant rise in world soccer in recent years, last reaching the FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010 before falling to Mexico in a playoff for a place at the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

Here are four players with ties to the USL who could be included in October’s squad – which will also face Mexico in Nashville, Tenn., home of USL 2018 expansion club Nashville FC on October 8 at Nissan Stadium.

Jake Gleeson, Sacramento Republic FC/Portland Timbers 2 – Now the full-time starter for the Portland Timbers in MLS, Gleeson helped Sacramento claim the 2014 USL Championship in its inaugural season as he made 17 appearances for the club, including all three of the team’s playoff games. Gleeson also made 20 appearances a season ago for T2 in its inaugural season, but now has firmly established himself as one of the top young goalkeepers in MLS, earning nomination two weeks ago for the Etihad Player of the Month award.

James Musa, Saint Louis FC – Musa, as has been commemorated by one of STLFC’s fans on Twitter, has earned one full cap for his country previously, but given the location of the two games and his form this season for Saint Louis could earn a call-up. Musa has made 45 regular-season appearances for STLFC over the past two seasons, and this season has three goals and three assists, which could put him into Coach Anthony Hudson’s plans.

Kip Colvey, Sacramento Republic FC – A third-round selection in the MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes this past January, Colvey has made six appearances on loan with Republic FC in his rookie professional season. A former member of the Ventura County Fusion in the PDL, Colvey earned his first call-up to the All Whites squad this summer for the 2016 OFC Nations Cup, where he appeared in four games – including the final – as New Zealand claimed victory and a place at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

Tim Payne, Portland Timbers 2 – Payne made 22 appearances for Portland in its inaugural season in the USL, but failed to crack the lineup before being released this season. The 22-year-old has made 14 appearances for his country, in addition to competing for the U23 team at the 2012 London Olympics, and a call-up could give him a chance to put his abilities on display again as he looks to find a new opportunity for professional action.
