S2 looks to continue push up standings as Monarchs aim to rebound from loss

TUKWILA, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 will try to add to its three-game winning stream on Monday night when it plays host to a Real Monarchs SLC side that is battling for its playoff life after a tough defeat in its last outing. Kickoff at Starfire Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 6-9-5, 23pts
  • S2 took its third consecutive victory last Sunday as a late goal by Mark O’Ojong earned a 1-0 win against the Portland Timbers 2 at Starfire Stadium.
  • A Cameroonian international, O’Ojong came in at No. 12 on the inaugural USL 20 Under 20 announced earlier this week.
  • After Saturday night’s results, S2 now sits four points back of eighth place in the Western Conference with 10 games remaining.
  • Seattle’s 31 goals against are tied for the second-most conceded in the West, level with Orange County, and trailing only Tulsa.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-10-4, 22 points
  • The Monarchs fell 3-0 to Arizona United SC in their last outing, putting another big dent in their playoff hopes.
  • Real has struggled for results since the start of June, going 3-6-0 in that span to drop back in the race for the playoffs.
  • The Monarchs will be without Danilo Acosta, who was called into the U.S. U20 National Team Camp that began on Saturday in New Jersey.
  • Real will start a three-game home stand next Monday by hosting Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the USL Game of the Week on ESPN3.
