KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The eighth-place Swope Park Rangers and ninth-place San Antonio FC square off at Children’s Mercy Victory field on Saturday night separated by one point in the race for a place in the Western Conference playoffs. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 7-8-4, 25pts
  • Swope Park moved back into the playoff positions with a 3-0 win against Orange County Blues FC last Saturday night.
  • Mark Anthony Gonzalez scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the win, while Dane Kelly and Jonathan Grant also found the net.
  • Ayrton recorded a pair of assists for the Rangers as the side broke a three-game winless streak.
  • The City Council of Kansas City, Mo. proclaimed Thursday as Swope Park Rangers Appreciation Day in the city to recognize the club for its work in the local community.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-6-6, 24 points
  • San Antonio saw its six-game undefeated streak end last Saturday in a 3-2 defeat to the LA Galaxy II at Toyota Field.
  • Rafael Castillo’s third goal of the season gave San Antonio an early lead, but the Galaxy II scored three straight before Stephen McCarthy’s late goal, which proved only a consolation.
  • San Antonio sits second in the USL with 246 total shots on goal, trailing only FC Cincinnati.
  • Saturday’s game opens a three-game road trip for San Antonio, which will also visit Sacramento and Arizona on its travels.
