Kickers aim to continue winning streak as Red Bulls II look to rebound

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers will try to extend their longest winning streak of the season when they play host to the second-place New York Red Bulls II on Saturday at City Stadium, with New York looking to bounce back from just its second loss of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

  • Current record: 8-6-5, 29pts
  • The Kickers took a 3-0 victory against Toronto FC II last Saturday at City Stadium to extend their winning streak to three games.
  • The winning streak has moved Richmond into sixth place in the USL’s Eastern Conference, comfortably inside the playoff positions.
  • Yudai Imuda was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for his two-goal performance against Toronto, and leads the Kickers with six goals this season.
  • The Kickers’ 15 goals against this season is tied for second-fewest in the league alongside New York.

New York Red Bulls II news and notes

  • Current record: 12-2-5, 41 points
  • The Red Bulls II had a 12-game undefeated streak brought to an end last Saturday as they fell 3-2 to the Charleston Battery at Red Bull Park.
  • Goals by Stefano Bonomo and Kevin O’Toole pulled the Red Bulls II back from a two-goal halftime deficit, but Charleston regained the lead soon after to take victory.
  • Bonomo was sent off for throwing a punch late in the contest, and will start serving a four-game suspension on Saturday.
  • Red Bulls II midfielder Derrick Etienne Jr. – who appeared alongside Tyler Adams in the Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game on Wednesday – returns to Richmond, where his father played for the Kickers.
