SAN JOSE, Calif. – New York Red Bulls II standout Derrick Etienne Jr. was named to the Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game roster on Tuesday, where he will team up with fellow young midfielder Tyler Adams in the third annual contest at Avaya Stadium on Wednesday night.

Etienne was named to the squad as an injury replacement for the Chicago Fire’s Joey Calistri, who was withdrawn on Monday. The Haiti U23 international joined up with the team on Monday, and will now be one of 16 players in the squad to face Mexico’s U20 National Team with USL ties.

The 19-year-old Etienne first competed last season for the Red Bulls II as an Academy signing, and had three goals and three assists in 14 appearances for the side. After completing his freshman season at the University of Virginia, Etienne signed as a Homegrown Player with the Red Bulls this offseason.

This season he has helped lead the Red Bulls II to second place in the Eastern Conference standings with two goals and a team-leading four assists. Etienne also sits second on the team in minutes played as his strong two-way game has helped the Red Bulls II reach even greater heights with only two defeats so far this season.

The 2016 Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game will be streamed live on MLSSoccer.com on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET.
