Steel look to bounce back from midweek defeat against Rhinos

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem Steel FC plays host to the Rochester Rhinos on Sunday afternoon at Goodman Stadium looking to bounce back from a tough midweek defeat, with the visitors look to push for a top-four position in the Eastern Conference. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.

Bethlehem Steel FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-7-6, 24pts
  • The Steel fell 1-0 to the Harrisburg City Islanders on Thursday evening at Goodman Stadium, keeping Behtlehem in eighth place entering the weekend’s action.
  • Bethlehem was coming off back-to-back victories, but sputtered offensively on Thursday as it recorded only seven shots, three of which were on target.
  • The Steel have generally struggled in front of goal this season, with their 19 goals putting them tied for sixth-fewest in the USL.
  • Ten different players have found the net for the Steel, but none has more than three goals.

Rochester Rhinos news and notes

  • The Rhinos were denied victory on the road on Wednesday when Toronto FC II scored late on in a 1-1 draw at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
  • Rochester has now alternated wins and draws in its current six-game undefeated streak, which has moved the side into fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
  • Rhinos goalkeepers Adam Grinwis and Tomas Gomez have combined for a 0.89 goals-against average, which puts the Rhinos tied for fifth in the USL.
  • The Rhinos have conceded 50 shots on goal this season, the fewest of any side in the USL.
