Two teams on strong runs of form square off on Saturday at Toyota Field

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC and the LA Galaxy II will both aim to continue their strong runs of form of late when they meet in a big Western Conference contest on Saturday night at Toyota Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-5-6, 24pts
  • San Antonio extended its undefeated streak to six games last Saturday with a 2-0 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Toyota Field.
  • Matt Cardone saved a penalty kick as he recorded his first shutout this season in relief of the suspended Josh Ford, while Rafael Castillo and Franck Tayou scored second-half goals in the win.
  • San Antonio enters the weekend in seventh place in the Western Conference, and has won four out of its past five games.
  • Franck Tayou is now tied for the team high with three goals, all of which have come off the bench in his five appearances.

LA Galaxy II news and notes

  • Current record: 8-2-8, 32 points
  • The Galaxy II returned from their bye week with a 4-1 victory against the Portland Timbers 2 last Saturday evening at Merlo Field.
  • Four different player found the net for the Galaxy II, including Jack McBean, who scored his 25th regular-season goal for Los Dos in the second half.
  • The Galaxy II are on an eight-game undefeated streak, and sit second in the USL’s Western Conference trailing only  Vancouver on total wins.
  • Los Dos is tied for the most goals scored in the USL with 37, and leads the league with 42 yellow cards this season.

  • The teams played to a 1-1 draw at StubHub Center earlier this season when Carlos Alvarez scored an 89th-minute goal to equalize for SAFC in the 89th minute.
